Microsoft announce the release of the first “WPF/E” CTP

December 4th, 2006 Sean No comments

WPF/E allows applications to go beyond what can be done with pure HTML today, and will enable sites blend HTML UI, Dynamic Vector Graphics, Animation and Media into the browser. This works with Firefox, IE and Safari by means of a browser plugin.

For some examples, check out http://channel9.msdn.com/playground/wpfe/

There is also a Channel 9 Video by Joe Stegman on some of the more technical details.

So will this be the end of Flash for fancy graphics in the browser. What do you think ?

Any recommendations for a DVD/HDD Recorder?

December 2nd, 2006 Sean No comments

I am looking to get a DVD/HDD recorder this month.   I am looking at the LG RH-178 at the moment.  There are so many different players with so many different options is it getting more difficult to choose.

Some of the must have features:

DVD Recording   (including Dual Layer recording)

HDD Recording  (160GB)

JPEG/MP3/WMA playback

Preferably DivX playback

Simultaneous recording and playback would be nice

I know the LG one I linked to above has all these features.

Does anyone have a recommendation ?
